Food-related conditions have increased in number nowadays. There are several syndromes that our grandparents did…
When you look in the mirror and realize that you have put on a few extra pounds it is never a fun experience. It is however important to figure out exactly what is going on around you that is contributing to the extra weight. One of the not so obvious areas is the area of your job. It is very possible that your job is actually making you fat. Be sure to take a close look at what is going on when you are at work and if necessary make some changes to counteract the unhealthy activities arising from your time spent at work.
One of the most common reasons that a job can contribute to an overweight condition is the fact that it is all too often a common pastime at work to eat out with friends. It is way more convenient to some to just go out and grab a bite with friends and coworkers than it is to pack a healthy lunch. We all know that going out to eat is a highly dangerous situation when it comes to weight loss. Modern day restaurants like to push the easily prepared processed foods on us in their menus because they are able to make a much higher profit on the items with cheap processed ingredients. Furthermore it is easier for them to prepare than whole foods. Did you know that there are some chain restaurants that serve reheated frozen foods? I am talking sit down restaurants and not your normal fast food joint. It is true you have to be real careful when eating out. So when you are asked to go out to eat with coworkers you might not have to necessarily turn them down every time but be aware of what you are getting yourself into. Make sure you scope out the restaurant options in your work area ahead of time so you can have a game plan of what you are going to order and how much of it you are going to eat in order to keep from getting off track of your fitness goals.
Another common reason that a job can add some extra weight and completely blow a diet is that it is very common for an office to have company provided snack machines and a lot of times catered meals around lunchtime. Unfortunately it is never something that is healthy. Oftentimes it is delivered and the most common delivery items are pizza and things of that nature. It would be good if you could request that your company try and cater in some healthy food at the same time. Sometimes you can request this and actually get somewhere. A lot of companies are health conscious since healthier employees can translate to more productive employees but sometimes your request will just fall on deaf ears. It is during these times that you are going to have to ratchet up your willpower and just find a way around eating the unhealthy catered food. In the worst case scenario where you have to eat it due to time constraints or other reasons just be sure to watch the portion you eat. If you only eat a little you will get a lot farther towards your goal and staying on track than if you just go all out like most people do.
Different things like this can contribute to an unhealthy lifestyle at work but at the end of the day you have to remember that it is up to you to be healthy. Take charge of your life and regain control over your weight.
